| 2008 Annual Meeting January 19, 2008 St. Brigid’s Episcopal Church, Rio Vista, California A Parochial Mission of Grace Episcopal Church, Fairfield Diocese of Northern California Worship Committee Report The Worship Committee has been a very busy endeavour this past year. Carol Dugger, Chairman, was able to set up four teams of set-up/take-down people to participate in the Altar Guild. The teams consist of: Carol Dugger and Pat Akers; Debbie and Kevin McNamara; Donna and Guy Harris; Patty and Larry LaFleur. The teams each served once every four months and were responsible for setting up our facility for worship and the Eucharist, first at the Senior Center and later at The Lighthouse. With the recent illness of Larry LaFleur we are down to 3 teams at present. The teams arrange the furniture, prepare the altar for the Eucharist, and have the prayer books and hymnals ready for use. They have also been responsible for making and serving the coffee for our Coffee Hour after the Eucharist. A new set-up guide has been written and sent to each team so that they may refer to this prior to setting up every month. Deacon Susan and Carol Dugger have spent many hours at The Lighthouse organizing and labeling our cupboard and the storage shelf allotted to us by The Lighthouse. It is now much more efficient and user-friendly: all one has to do is read the labels and put the clean items back in their places to be ready for the coming month’s service. Becoming a smoother and more independently functioning Altar Guild is a work in progress and we hope we can enlist other communicants to participate in the Altar Guild this coming year. The old adage “Many hands make light work” seems appropriate to add here. In St. Brigid’s future is the prospect of weekly services at The Lighthouse and it is more vital than ever that the Altar Guild members feel comfortable with their duties and know where to find things. Other hidden parts of the Worship Committee Chairman’s duties are to select the hymns for services, coordinate with the musician, and to prepare and print the bulletins and readings for each service. An arrangement was obtained with Trilogy for economical, timely, and convenient printing. This was very helpful in keeping printing costs to a minimum and still enjoying the convenience of a bulletin with lessons and the Gospel to complement our worship. Many thanks are given to Deacon Susan for her unwavering support and assistance with the Altar Guild, and to Donna and Guy Harris, Debbie and Kevin McNamara, Pat Akers, Patty and Larry LaFleur for their faithful service this past year. Additionally, great appreciation and a loud round of applause belong to our musician, Lee Muller, who has performed her duty cheerfully and often times under very stressful circumstances when the keyboard refuses to function properly.
