MISSION COMMITTEE MEETING

Nov 24, 2007

A brief meeting of the Mission Committee took place Nov 24, 2007 at The Lighthouse
after the monthly service to discuss dispersals of our outreach funds for the year.

Members in attendance were: Deacon Susan Reeve, Deacon Derek Jones, Sr. Warden
Larry LaFleur, Treasurer Chandra Drury, Secretary Debbie McNamara, Carol Dugger,
and visitor Fr. David Cavanaugh.

Chandra Drury, Treasurer, reported that St. Brigid’s income for 2006 was $12,000 and in
2007 was $8,000.

Outreach dispersals for 2007 were voted upon by the Mission Committee members
present as follows:

    Rio Vista Food Ministry……………… $450.00

    Rio Vista CARE………………………… $500.00

    Christmas 94571………………………. $250.00

    Center of Movement……………….. $100.00

Church Divinity School of the Pacific $50.00

    School for Deacons…………………… $150.00

The total amount of outreach dispersals: $1,500.00

A discussion was held regarding the possibility of adding services to our current once
monthly Eucharist. Ways and means to accomplish additional services and that fell within
our budget was the possibility of adding a Morning Prayer service instead of a Eucharist.
It was pointed out that having weekly services would cause strain on our limited budget.
Deacon Susan said she would talk with Pastor Arlon Preston regarding rental of The
Lighthouse each Saturday and the cost to do so. It was suggested that perhaps we could
have a Morning Prayer service, with or without music, to replace one or more of the
Eucharistic services, thus reducing the expense of having a priest each time, and that
this could accomplish our goal of weekly services.

The Mission Committee felt that in order for St. Brigid’s to grow it was vital to have regular
weekly services. It was generally felt that having music at our worship was of particular
importance and trying to work within our budget would be feasible if we can negotiate
musician’s fees with Lee Muller, our current musician.

The Mission Committee was asked to think about our goals and be prepared to discuss
this further at the next regularly scheduled meeting January 12, 2008.

The meeting was adjourned.
